Wifi Gator Pro-Mesh Dashboard & Firmware
Manager Instructions:
Big Note before we start! The pro-mesh dashboard is a limited subset
of the open-mesh dashboard based on the Orange Mesh and Mesh Connect
Dashboards. For full original copies of the source code, see the documentation
page. The purpose of this firmware builder and pro-mesh dashboard are
to achieve self sufficiency and router firmware stability in the network.
It does not have all of the fancy graphs that Open-Mesh has, so if that
is what you are looking for, then you should stick with Open-Mesh Dashboard.
If self sufficiency and router firmware stability are important to
you, then the Pro-Mesh Dashboard will achieve those goals with flying
colors, as do all of our developments in this field.
Let's Get Started!
1) Login to your Pro-Mesh Firmware Manager page with the username
and password you chose when you signed up for the Pro-Mesh Account

Enter your Wifi Gator Server IP address or domain name. Leave the "Dashboard
Server Path" as /mesh. Set your desired custom.sh file path
or leave it at the default setting, which will pull a blank custom.sh
file from the wifigator server.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next enter the path to your custom logo which you would like
to be displayed on the Coova Chilli Splash Page. Fill in the rest of
the questions
asked here with the obvious answers such as your public and private
SSID and your root user password for SSH access to the routers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you have everything set the way you want it, click the
Build Firmware Now button. The system will take about 3 - 5 minutes
to build
your firmware. It will build a full set of firmwares for both kernel
23 and kernel 26 of Robin-Mesh, but your settings that you entered above
will be permanently embedded in the firmware as the default values for
the listed attributes.
Once your firmware is complete, click the link that says Return To The
Firmware Manager. This will bring you back to the page above.
Now click the DOWNLOAD tab at the top of the page. You will see a directory
structure like this.
SAMPLE
DOWNLOAD FILES FOR OPEN-MESH
The file config.txt contains a record of what you have compiled
into this firmware set. For information on how to flash your routers,
see the
support page.
HOW TO INSTALL THE PRO-MESH DASHBOARD INTO YOUR WIFIGATOR SERVER:
The instructions on how to install the Wifi Gator Pro-Mesh
Dashboard can be found in your download folder in the directory called
DASHBOARD.
The dashboard directory and those very simple instructions on how to
install it are excluded from this tutorial so it available exclusively
to
the wifigator users. It is a point and click affair, as you will see.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once the Pro-mesh Dashboard is installed in your server, open
a web browser and go to:
http://your-server-ip/mesh
and login with
user = admin
pass = admin

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you are logged in as the admin user, click the ADD NODES
tab at the top of the page. You will see a link in the upper right hand
corner that says CREATE NEW NETWORK... Click that link to add a network
using the NASID / USERNAME of your Wifi Gator Hotspot which you plan
on aiming this network at. Fill in the fields for the new network to
suit your preferences and click on CREATE NETWORK.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you have created a new network, logout as the Admin user
and log back in as the new network name that you just created. Once
logged
back in again, click on ADD NODES again. Fill in the fields with the
appropriate information, just as you would with Open-Mesh Dashboard.

Click on SYSTEM SETTINGS and fill in the fields here, again,
just as you would with open-mesh dashboard. Shown are sample settings
to give you some guidance.

To fix the error you will get about the Google Map API Key,
login to the server as root user with WinSCP and edit the file:
/var/www/mesh/lib/mapleys.php
You will find the link to get the key and the line to paste
it into at the top of the file.
For more information on flashing routers and to see a few video
tutorials of this system, keep an eye on the SUPPORT page in the very
near
future, as this is where I will post much more information on this system
and how it ties into the Wifi Gator Billing System. Most people who
need this system are advanced users who are already familiar with Open-Mesh
Dashboard, which is why these instructions are short and sweet.
